Physical Therapies

Therapeutic Massage

This massage is to restore the energy flow through the muscle tissue giving more flexibility and relieving tension using trigger point therapy as well as kinesiology techniques. Stiff and tight lower back, shoulders and neck muscles can be successfully loosened by this technique. Tightness and tension in the arms and legs can also be helped with this treatment.

This massage treatment is tailored to individual requirements, which will depend upon the problems presented.

Relax Massage

This gentle but firm massage of the body using organic coconut oil, concentrates on the back, neck, arms and legs. It soothes and relaxes the muscles giving a real sense of indulgence. This is greatly enhanced by having a head massage along side the body massage. No oil is used when massaging the head.

Massage for senior's, those retired & those with acquired illnesses

Importance of massage as we move on along life's magical pathway

Be it due to age, age related conditions or an acquired illness earlier in life, massage has a huge roll to play in reducing the stress and anxiety as well as helping reduce pain, tension and congested tissue and muscle.

Massage is a non-invasive, enjoyable way to help alleviate the symptoms of many age related problems and improve a person's quality of life. The effectiveness of massage rests in the fact that it impacts on the whole body. Not only does the massage ease muscle and joint pain, it also relieves stress which is often increases as the years go by.

The positive effects of massage rest on sound science. Even a gentle massage has a proven effect on blood circulation and the nervous system. These two body systems are especially vulnerable to the effects of aging. Massage stimulates these systems in a natural pain free-way and because of this there are no side effects. This is important for those being treated for Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes, Depression and many other conditions requiring regular medications as it is safe.

Massage techniques for us, as life moves on, do not differ a lot from traditional massage with the exception of a few considerations. It is important to accommodate and to position the person with kind, loving care to ensure the best possible comfort. Mobility can often be a problem for some seniors, as well as those with acquired illnesses, therefore it may be necessary to administer massage to the person in the chair. Hands and feet are often the focus of massage when working with some people especially if they don't have full use of their hands or feet. Hand and foot massage does increase blood circulation in certain parts of the body and also increase their body awareness.

This massage will help those who have decreased mobility, which may well have gone on to cause the suffering effects of arthritis and joint pain. The massage therapist can help stimulate blood flow to the muscles and consequently improve mobility. Specific nerve centres may be stimulated using acupressure in massage, or mobility may be increased using the long, heavy strokes of Swedish massage.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a gentle but deep pressure massage, generally given to the feet where all the internal body structures and organs are mirrored. This treatment will calm and sooth – relieving stress and tension. It gives a feeling of well being – relaxing the mind and the body. Thereby increasing the flow of blood and lymph. In time the toxins are released and muscles and joints are eased. The pressure applied to the feet creates channels for healing energy to circulate around the whole body. Reflex stimulation causes involuntary response in the organs and glands which are linked by energy pathways. Physiological changes occur in the body as its own healing potential is stimulated. With this treatment comes a chakra balance and colour therapy to stimulate energy flow. This is a wonderful treatment to have with a cranial massage as the ultimate in relaxation. All reflexology treatments can be completed by a chakra balance.

This can be given as a gentle one off treatment for relaxation. But for more therapeutic treatments a course should be considered

Cranial Massage

Relax and enjoy this exceptional experience. No oil is used just gentle massage on a series of pressure points over the head, neck and face. You will feel the tension released from the whole of your body. Enjoy this with a back and neck massage for pure pampering.

Bespoke treatments can be arranged for example a cranial massage and back massage is very relaxing as is a cranial massage and a gentle reflexology and would be an hour appointment.
